fennecs and foxgloves

I got some drawings resolved today and fitted in a super long cycle,it was a lovely sunny morning even though it looks a bit overcast in the photograph , the light was amazing :)
We are going away for a little break on sunday and I am looking forward to it.
I found a lovely old book from the 1940's called the bear and his relations of which this above photo is from .
They are fennecs , the worlds smallest foxes ! (love 'em)

hand drawing is the bomb !

delighted to have been chosen to join this lovely newish contemporary drawing blog hand drawing
they are on facebook too , which I am not but I am on the drawing page along with some seriously smokin' artists whom I am very happy to share space with :)
So much time is spent alone in this mad job that it is truelly exciting to be part of something bigger than me even if its virtual ...its still real ...really !
um cant quite believe how exciting I found the work of Aleksandra Waliszewska she makes me feel like a silly kitten !
I found her work through the amazing new to me drawing magazine blog the kingdom (which I found via my new B.F.F'S hand drawings links)
If you ♡ drawing you best get your ass over there quick , you are in for a treat :)

out takes have me mesmerised and enchanted

......oh oh oh oh
I am taking a break from the i.n.s.a.n.e. world that is making films (albeit very humble home made ones)
I made a small film to show with my degree show last year and I was hooked.
I felt that it added another dimension to my work .
So I am doing it again with all my years of collected film footage .
It is THE most exciting/frustrating medium.
I am in the slow slow process of assembling my a song for edith holden film to be part of my almost ready for the world solo show (which as we speak of most re-assuringly nobody seems to want......yet )
Here are some fuzzy odd bits , bits I lost , deleted , re-found and re-fell in love with .
Please say some special words to the universe for me , that I may get edith out into the open at sometime , in this life :)

I love this blog and look at this film (oh so wow !)

Happy summer solstice dudes :)

felicity has this now

I really enjoyed my market stall on saturday.
Josephine an ethereal (yet incrediably serious) wisp fell in love with and went off with a skirt that I was very pleased with, it was the colour (faded naples yellow)` and the lightness of the silk organza .she was a absolute dote :)hello josephine , it was so special to meet you !
Also the lovely french glass coffee cups went , sorbet sort of colours and quite perfect.
Mostly it was just an appreciation from people of what I do , it was a special day and selling a drawing capped the day (hello jessica and katie :)
I enjoyed playing post offices making up some little slips of old paper to give to nice people , when they ask about my work.
I cannot bear those official corporate type business cards yuk ...I 'd rather give nothing.
I am praying for focus this week as I attempt to edit some film footage into my current body of work.
The weather is very inviting and I am easily distracted but it has to be done this week.
At the end of July I am going to be in a group show with some of my ex. degree classmates.
B.T.W. alchemy is what I call anything on my stall which has been magic-ed into something other

richael carroll
mara sola lopez
ciaran coghlan
elva conole

I cannot believe that it is a whole year since the show and last week I had the chance to visit this years degree shows.
In fact I managed to do an awful lot and I mean a mad amount of stuff last week , most compulsory but I feel I may be lying on the floor with my legs up in the air all day tommorow !
I hope you are inspired by my personal choice of highlights from the fine art department at galway\mayo institute of technology degree show.
I could have spent hours at maras paintings and wish I 'd the money to buy one (I feel she has a very bright future ahead of her)
Mara sola
Well done everyone , specially my friends richael and kevin (great work both of you ........... go guys go :)

feeling a bit inbetween places

I have no new work to show at the moment , which kinda makes me sad as I am so impatient !

treasure hunting and making

you will need to click click on the clothes to really see them :)

love the colours in this book cover

Aesops Fables (Paul Hamlyn 1965)
illustrated by A.& M Provensen

....as I mentioned , I found lots of beautiful old cups and plates (last sunday) to sell on my market stall and here are some images of them .
I love the colours and patterns in them and people enjoy the connection to the past when they recognise the decorations from their grandmother or themselves.
I also feel it is time for my work to get out into the world and me to be brave , that is why I am showing off the c.d I made for my proposed show A Song For Edith Holden it would be 9-15 drawings and a looped 80 second film .
It makes me feel sick with anxiety being so honest......but sure what the hell !!
You can also see some alchemy spectaculars hanging there on grannys old greenhouse door .
I re-made these clothes from older linen dresses and applied vintage linen tea towels as an integral part of the whole.
Kinda pleased with them :)

things I love ....

detail of lament for a house

dorothy smith s fabric lunnette 1950
I had a lovely day on sunday finding treasures to sell on my market stall (post to follow) and calling over to my best friend and we lay in the sun eating and resting all day !! it was wonderful.
I finished the truth lies between and I want to show my work again ...thinking and scheming how to do this.
I went for a cycle this morning and saw loads of ox-eye daisies ,they are so happy and were standing up so proud all the way along the roadside. I. L.O.V.E. T.H.E.M.
I also love the work and vision of marcel dzama
