Hey , I think something twinkly and snowy and cozy is going down (how was it for you ?)

Of course with my impecable sense of timing ,I just happened to chance upon these lovelies. I recently bought a huge box of vintage box fresh (as they say stateside) greetings cards.
So to all my dear friends I wish you a fun time and hope that you enjoy these images from original 1940,s cards.

happy heart club medals

people ....we seem a little in need of a reality check, listen.... ITS ALL GOING TO BE OKAY we are merely spirits passing through , we cannot let these silly money people upset us , if they sat down for a minute and made themselves or a friend the happy heart medal (shown here) just think how much more meaningful their lives could become.
Instead they just keep wheeling and dealing the countries assets and flittering any integrity that this country has to the wind. BUT DO NOT SUCCUMB sit down now ! make a happy heart medal and dont listen to " the man "

I am here ✍✍✍♡♡♡

something worth supporting

I love this group of artists ,who are working on the sidelines to ensure that another space in art is upheld. Go Mart!! well done , the following is their own words....

‘The Free Art Project’

Mart would like to put a call out to Artists of All Media and Styles.

‘The Free Art Project’ is a project designed to bring Art back to the community at a reasonable price – FREE!!

We shall be hitting the city streets of Dublin and Galway Cities
On December 20th & 21st.

We will be handing out Free Art to the passing public on Grafton St - Dublin and Shop Street – Galway. We shall also be placing various other pieces including Installations and Performances around the cities.

It’s all about bringing Art Back to the Community while highlighting the cost of Art today and squashing the stereotype that Art is just for Artists.

All of this Art shall be free for the public to leave in situ or take home!

As ever MART’s primary aim is to help you promote your work! So whether you are part of an Art Group with lots of pieces sitting on shelves dying for a home or if you have pieces stored away itching to see the light of day, or even if you have a Fab new idea that is looking for somewhere to go…NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!

Deadline for submissions is December 19th. It can be dropped off in various locations in Dublin and Galway, just send us an email for more info:
info@mart.ie

And also visit our great online Gallery at www.mart.ie

just a few of my favourite images right now , hello to all out there , I really appreciate all the positive feedback that I have had since i decided to "come out ", this art craic is pretty scary , and just to know that , yes , making art is a possible real- life activity and......... yes ,we can! all fills my heart with , I don,t know ,tingly feelings of ........hope xx jane ❦❤

I like this one ....

Its the light coming through the drawing that I like , thats definately why I like film and illuminated reality so much

hello stars the earth says hello !

I am at this moment in the laborious and completely lunatic process of trying to get a tiny little film made in time for my christmas assesment at college TOMMOROW (omg) It will be a part of my work titled

whatever one loves ......is (an installations of drawing/paintings and objects)

, so the most logical thing to do seemed to be this , ie.escaping to my blog, I had a little blink and you,ll miss it show in the new art gallery within the local theatre. the art exhibition was a group show and was a part of a local poetry festival . It was a great oppurtunity to hang my current work the way I,d like it to be seen and was also a great and positive experience due to the lovely new local arts officer (yay to Ciaran ) and to the supportive fellow artists (high five y,all! xx )
So I am posting up a few images of my part of the group show .

what!......... you have more to tell us ?

well , its rare to get such a run at our computer ,so..... when I have it , i may as well catch up ,image wise any how . When I was in England last week , I happened upon some treasures in my beloved Portobello market , (funny that )
These greetings cards are from the 1940,s and the man had heaps of them all from a discovery in an old warehouse OMG ! I cannot imagine how I would have coped with the wonder of all that original printed stuff !!
I love how they look a little creepy (a little\ie. a lot ) but unintentionally the colours are fab , so specific and you can see the printing on thepaper as if they have been painted . So many artists use animal identities in their work (I am specially thinking of atushi kaga and his bunny character, loads more )

randomness is the new context du jour ...

Following on with the remaining images that caught my attention this morning when I was searching for something new for my blog.I could hold a competition for those inclined to spot the 'beloved objects ' for real that sometimes appear in my work!

know that you are loved

sometimes its all too much for me ....

Its monday and its very cold (duh !) BUT there is always hope. Just been for a cycle and now i feel better ! i am absolutely loving words at the moment , little snatches of them , on their own and sayings that i have overheard or snatched from an old book.
the above saying came to me like an arrow into my heart when I was leaving england to fly back to my home in Ireland , i was trying to get crumpets in the marks and spencers and say goodbye to my dear father and ... and ... you know , life , flying , dying , home , time , all those EPIC spaces are , sometimes all too much for me .
The symbolism of words though is a cool area to explore , because they can mean so many , many different things. Take Dearest , such a quaint yet passionate word , the most popular word to be inscibed into Victorian jewellary.Hope , well , thats my favourite word because we must hold on to it always , look at what it can achieve , yes we can! , go on you good thing mr president , all our hopes are with you .
Took a load of random shots of my studio space up in the attic (attic ... mad... woman in ... OMG !) and I am posting them up coz.. yes we can .
